Flash-Mob at Braehead MallThe PACE Youth Theatre has organised a flash mob event that will take place in Braehead Mall between 12pm and 1pm on Friday. The PACE Youth Theatre is the largest Youth Theatre in the UK. The young people who belong to this Youth Theatre will start dancing simultaneously in the centre of the mall. Escorts in Glasgow believe this is a good idea to advertise the PACE Youth Theatre and upcoming shows, including the SummerFest arts festival based in Renfrewshire.
The flash mob trend began in 2003 in the renowned Macy’s department in Manhatten, New York creating a world-wide craze. A flash mob is a large group of people who suddenly stage an event simultaneously, such as a dance, and then scatter as if nothing happened.
It has been reported by the PACE that the flash mob saga at Braehead will last for no longer than 10 minutes and will include an after performance designed to entertain the customers of Braehead mall. Acting, singing and dancing are the specialities of the PACE Youth Theatre members so the shoppers will be in for a treat.
The director of the flash mob, Jordan Blackwood, stated that “No doubt shoppers will get a big surprise when the youngsters suddenly start dancing together to music but I’m sure they’ll enjoy the event once they get over the shock, they’ll see a high-energy and thrilling performance”.
The same Youth Theatre arranged a flash mob in the same shopping centre a year before. According to Braehead’s marketing manager, Lydia Brown, was “one of the most amazing things I have ever seen here. One minute the mall looked like it does on any normal day, with people strolling in and out of the shops, and the next there was a huge crowd of young people dancing in the central atrium. Some of the shoppers couldn’t believe their eyes as it all happened so quickly”.
