Glasgow extras dream of starring alongside Brad PittUp to 2000 local Glaswegians are hoping to win a part in a new Hollywood movie being shot in Glasgow next month. The movie is called World War Z and needs a significant number of extras to be cast. Among the hopefuls are a number of part time Glasgow escorts looking to get their faces on the big screen.
The movie is said to be a post-apocalyptic thriller and with a big name such as Brad Pitt associated with the title, this is sure to be one of the smash hits of next year. The producers have said that all kinds of different looks are being sought after, with a multinational cast of extras needed.
Strangely, the film itself is set in Philadelphia despite filming in Glasgow. American cars and replica shop facades will be used to create a more American looking environment. Many streets are expected to be closed around George Square as filming takes place, and many of the production crew are expected to be based there for the duration of the shoot.
It has been reported that the new £80 million movie is a futuristic zombie thriller set in a world where the human race has been pushed to the edge of extinction. As well as massive Hollywood star Brad Pitt being involved, the movie is being directed by Marc Foster, previously known for taking the helm of James Bond flick, Quantum Of Solace.
In times when the local economy is not at its strongest, many potential extras will be attracted by the news that they will be paid £130 a day. Despite ‘extra work’ being known as long, tiring and rather boring, this is certainly a nice payday for movie buffs.
Shooting is due to take place in August and potential extras of all backgrounds and races are encouraged to apply.
